The architect for the Rose Modern, Stephen B. Jacobs, identifies today’s urban residential lifestyle as simultaneously more casual and more refined than in previous decades. Apartment layouts and common amenity spaces were designed with these parallel principles in mind. There is an emphasis throughout the buidling’s design on open layouts, wide vistas, natural light and easy comfort for living in style.
Here are SBJ’s drawings for the Rose Modern’s roof decks on the 17th and 19th Floors. The plans include an intimate Serenity Deck on 17 and a larger common roof deck on 19 featuring an outdoor kitchen and dining and lounge areas.
We know that New Yorkers today ritualize their dining and food preparation experiences – so much so that the Rose Modern is installing both common indoor and outdoor kitchens. Imaging grilling out in the evening, 20 stories high, with an uninterrupted view like this one:
